The Merced Fair Parking Lot A project, managed by the California Construction Authority, involves extensive site preparation and infrastructure development in Merced, California. The scope of work includes site excavation, grading, and compaction to establish specific parking lot grades, with a focus on directing pavement drainage from the building toward a retention and infiltration basin. This basin, measuring approximately 50 feet by 204 feet, is designed with gradual side slopes to ensure the area remains functional for trailer accommodation during dry conditions. The project also requires the installation of an aggregate base and asphalt concrete pavement, with specific elevation requirements at the building face to mitigate back-flooding risks. In addition to paving, the contract encompasses the installation of concrete improvements, including parking blocks, headers, and curbs. A critical component of the work involves utility management, specifically raising and adjusting existing sanitary sewer manholes, electrical and water utility boxes, and valves to match new finished grades. Contractors must also ensure the protection of existing utilities, light posts, an RV dump station, and various building structures throughout the construction process. This project is categorized under a CEQA Notice of Exemption for existing facilities and is part of a broader development context that includes multi-level parking, public library, community center, and residential components.
