The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Office of Acquisition (OA) on behalf of the National Human Genome Research Institute, (NHGRI), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a non-competitive sole source basis without providing for full and open competition to Metabolon, 617 Davis Dr., Suite 400, Morrisville, North Carolina 27560-7171. The purpose of the procurement is to study global metabolomics plus Short Chain Fatty Acid (SCFAs) panel in serum samples of diabetic and non-diabetic individuals of African descent. A subset of the cohort (e.g., East Africans) also has an unexpectedly high circulating triglycerides compared to levels reported in other African populations. Therefore, a secondary objective of this procurement is to compare the metabolic profile of individuals with high triglyceride levels to those with low level of triglycerides.
