The Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest Emergency Project Proposal is managed by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and focuses on hazardous tree removal and fuels reduction across 538 acres in Tulare County, California. Located approximately 18 miles east of Springville, the project targets areas severely damaged by the 2020 SQF Complex to mitigate public safety threats and reduce dangerous fuel loads. The scope of work includes mechanical and manual cutting, pile and broadcast burning, and the application of herbicides. Additionally, specific areas will undergo tree planting to support forest rehabilitation. The project area consists of Sierran mixed-conifer and associated brush timber types, featuring species such as white fir, incense-cedar, red fir, ponderosa pine, sugar pine, giant sequoia, and black oak. This initiative is classified as an emergency project and is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under the State Environmental Protection Plan. Administrative oversight is provided by Forest Manager James J. Kral, and the work is conducted across specific sections within townships 19S and 20S and ranges 30E and 31E.
