Title:Modification of King Weather Radar TowerLocation:King City, OntarioTwo Phase Selection Process:This is the first phase (Phase One) of a two-phase competition. The first phase will evaluate the qualifications of all bidders. The second phase, (Phase Two), will invite the qualified bidders to provide a financial bid on the project based on the specifications and drawings. Upon award of a contract in Phase Two, the pre-qualification list resulting from the first phase will expire and will not be used in any other solicitation.Work Description:Purpose:The following statement of work describes requirements to modify the current radar tower at the King Weather Radar Site located just North of King City, Ontario at 14780 Jane St., King City, Ontario.Objective:The objective of this work is to shorten the existing C-band weather radar tower, which has had the radar and radome removed. The work will include:Removal and disassembly of the top two sections and decking of the existing C-Band tower and installation of a new extended deck on the shortened tower, approx. 20.5m above the ground, including removal of all materials from the site;building of new structure and extended deck on the shortened tower;moving the existing power distribution box from it’s existing location to the new supporting structure at the lower deck height;modifying the existing spiral staircase to end at the surface of the new extended deck;installation of a new davit crane on the North side of the new extended deck;installation of new safety rails around the perimeter of the new extended deck, including a safety gate near the davit crane;installation of the lightning protection system;installation of several tie down points in/on the new extended deck area to allow securing of large equipment on the deck;modification of the chain link fence surrounding the radar to accommodate equipment lifts using the new davit crane;inspect tower at completion of construction according to CAS S37-13 and perform any maintenance or minor repairs as required. These repairs include, but are not limited to bolt tightening and/or replacement, repair of minor damage to paint or galvanization, etc.Site Visit:There will be no scheduled site visit.Delivery Date:The Contractor must perform and complete within 8 weeks from the date of notification of acceptance of the offer.Estimated Value:To assist with bonding and insurance requirements, this project is estimated to cost approximately between $100,000.00 and $300,000.00 (taxes excluded).Documents may be submitted in either official language of Canada.
