Mokelumne River Confluence Multi-Benefit Project

The Mokelumne River Confluence Multi-Benefit Project aims to rehabilitate a 216-foot segment of levee from Station 822+00 to 1038+00 to meet the Delta Specific PL 84-99 Standard while enhancing ecological habitat. On the landside, the levee crown will be elevated to provide adequate freeboard above the 100-year flood level, and the slope will be stabilized with a toe berm to improve structural integrity. A setback levee will be constructed between Station 857+00 and 864+00, creating space for waterside habitat restoration. On the waterside, the existing levee will be excavated to form a habitat bench above Mean Lower Low Water, which will be planted with native riparian vegetation to establish approximately one acre of new Delta Levee Waterside Habitat. Ongoing monitoring and maintenance will be conducted to ensure the plantings meet established ecological success criteria, supporting both flood protection and environmental recovery.
