Multichannel Pyrometer
Contract Overview
Solicitation details, issuing organization, response deadlines, documents, and interested companies for this government contract opportunity.
AI Contract Overview
The NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center San Diego intends to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to FAR Associates for a high-precision multichannel pyrometer system. This equipment is essential for direct energy research to support advanced modeling of laser and material interactions. The system must specifically provide real-time absorption and off-gas compensation to prevent thermal reading distortions caused by vaporized materials, while offering continuous, wavelength-dependent emissivity measurements across a temperature range of 300 to 2000 degrees Celsius. Classified under NAICS code 334513 and PSC 6650, the anticipated award date is on or before September 15, 2026. Although the government intends to proceed with a noncompetitive action, this notice serves as market research to identify other responsible sources capable of meeting these technical requirements. Interested parties must submit capability statements not exceeding six pages to Allaine Benson by 3:00 PM PDT on August 31, 2026.

Full Description
NOTICE OF INTENT
This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. NAVSUP FLCSD intends to award a sole-source contract.
The NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center San Diego (FLCSD) intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed-price (FFP) contract on a sole-source basis to FAR Associates (CAGE: 1TUU1, POC Email: raffar@pyrometry.com), 8877 Freeway Drive, Macedonia, OH, using the procedures in FAR part 12.201-1.
The statutory authority for this noncompetitive action is FAR 12.102(a), Only one source is available, pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 1901. NAVSUP FLCSD intends to use simplified commercial acquisition procedures applicable to this requirement.
The Government’s requirement is for a high-precision multichannel pyrometer system capable of supporting advanced modeling of laser/material interactions for direct energy research. Specifically, the system must be capable of real-time absorption (off-gas) compensation. During high-energy laser testing, targeted materials vaporize and create severe off gassing, which distorts thermal readings. The required system must compensate for this vaporized material interference while simultaneously providing continuous, wavelength-dependent emissivity measurements in extreme heat ranges (300–2000° Celsius). Standard pyrometers are unsuitable due to off-gassing interference and lack of these specific capabilities.
The NAICS code for this procurement is 334513 (Instruments and Related Products for Measuring, Displaying, and Controlling Industrial Process Variables). The Product Service Code (PSC) is 6650. The anticipated award date is on or before September 15, 2026.
This notice is issued solely for market research and to determine whether other responsible sources can meet the Government’s minimum requirements. Interested parties may submit their documentation demonstrating the ability to provide equipment that meets the Government’s minimum requirement.
Equipment Minimum Requirements
Submissions must demonstrate that the proposed equipment possesses the minimum required capabilities described above (specifically, real-time absorption/off-gas compensation and continuous, wavelength-dependent emissivity measurements from 300–2000° Celsius). This market research is solely to determine if technical capabilities exist in the marketplace.
Submission Instruction
- Length Constraint: Submissions must not exceed 6 pages (10-point, Times New Roman font).
- Review Process: The results of this assessment will help the Government determine whether there are qualified sources and inform the decision on whether to continue with sole-source procurement or pursue competition. Requests for information or submissions with only questions are not affirmative responses.
- Point of Contact: Please submit capability statements by email as a Word or PDF attachment to Allaine Benson at allaine.g.benson.civ@us.navy.mil by 3:00 PM PDT, 08/31/2026. Please ensure all submissions are addressed to the listed contact to avoid any delays or missed deadlines
