The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, specifically the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory, intends to purchase four high-resolution, high-data-rate 3D range sensors. Based on extensive market research, the government has identified the MultiSense S7, manufactured by Carnegie Robotics LLC, as the only product meeting all technical requirements. This acquisition is conducted under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) and falls under NAICS code 334511. The required sensors must feature specific technical capabilities, including internal data processing, a 4MP color imager, Gigabit Ethernet interface, and compatibility with the Robotics Operating System. Additionally, the hardware must adhere to strict physical and environmental standards, such as weighing under 3 lbs and passing MIL-STD-810G vibration and shock tests. While this is not a small business set-aside, the government allowed interested parties to submit capability statements for review prior to finalizing the acquisition strategy.
