The Product Distribution Centre in Coquitlam, operated by the Ministry of Citizens’ Services for the Government of British Columbia, is planning to directly award a contract to Cardinal Health Canada for the supply of Nestlé nutritional products under solicitation BCNOI2026-034. This facility serves as a Health Canada-licensed hub for procuring and distributing specialized medical and health-related products to provincial government ministries, crown corporations, and federally funded organizations. The primary beneficiaries include the At Home Program, which supports over 2,300 medically fragile children aged 0 to 18 with highly customized nutritional supplements and incontinence products tailored to individual needs, and the Health Assistance Branch of the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, which serves nearly 7,700 additional clients receiving income support, including many aging out of the At Home Program. Both programs operate without product standardization, placing unique demands on procurement due to the non-replaceable nature of the items, and are under continuous pressure to manage costs for high-volume, essential supplies like nutritional supplements and incontinence products. The contract aims to secure consistent, reliable access to these critical products while aligning with budgetary constraints and ensuring seamless distribution to vulnerable populations across British Columbia.
