Award Notice GD139OAR9T5 Modification 31 outlines a Network Attached Storage technology refresh for the NOAA Storm Prediction Center, managed by the General Services Administration. The procurement involves the acquisition of a NetApp FAS 3250-R6 system to replace aging NetApp FAS3140c equipment, with an estimated value of 144,565.49 dollars. This upgrade is designed to handle increased volumes of larger observational and higher resolution model data while ensuring seamless integration into the current NAS infrastructure to minimize migration downtime and prevent data loss. By utilizing brand name equipment, the project achieves cost savings through the reuse of existing disk shelves and reduces potential management and incompatibility issues. The system will serve as the primary data store for the Test and Evaluation system and support NOAA Hazardous Weather Testbed activities as the SPC transitions from AWIPS to AWIPS2. This requirement was awarded to INDUS via a modification to an existing task order under an IDIQ contract, as INDUS is the sole company supporting this specific program. The procurement is justified as other than full and open competition due to the necessity of standardization with the AWIPS Program Office and the technical requirements for infrastructure compatibility.
