Full Description

The Minister of Natural Resources’ Lake Ontario Management Unit is responsible for monitoring, assessing and conducting research on Lake Ontario’s aquatic resources to support long-term sustainability of the lake’s ecosystem. Open-water angler surveys are an efficient and reliable method of collecting data on fish populations and angler harvest levels.
Conducting angler surveys on Lake Ontario and its embayments requires a vessel that meets strict safety criteria in hull design to handle the variable weather conditions Lake Ontario can produce. The vessel must be capable of supporting survey activities throughout both the nearshore and offshore environments of the Ministry’s Lake Ontario management area, from the Niagara River in the west to Lake St Francis in the east.
