The Department of Commerce/National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) will be hosting an Industry Day/Business Fair for vendors on Wednesday July 8, 2009 at NIST located at 100 Bureau Drive, Building 101, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-1070. The Fair will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (EST). This Industry Day/Business Fair is intended to allow vendors to market their capabilities and products to the NIST community and learn how to do business with the federal government. All vendors are welcome, however, there is only space for 35 vendors to present and demonstrate their products. The vendor space selection will be based on a first-to-register basis. Due to the limited space only three vendors from a commodity will be allowed to present and demonstrate their products. All other vendors who participate will be able to still handout their capability portfolios and meet with the NIST community. Attendance is limited to no more than three individuals per organization. Registration and the agenda for the conference can be found at the following website: http://www.nist.gov/public_affairs/confpage/090708.htm. Please be advised, for security reasons, attendees who have not pre-registered will not be admitted to the Industry Day/Business Fair. Building 215 Clean Room HEPA Filter Replacement
Solicitation # RFI-195000-26-00181
The National Institute of Standards and Technology is conducting market research through a Request for Information for the Building 215 Advanced Measurement Laboratory cleanroom repair and HEPA filter replacement project in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This initiative follows a previous solicitation that failed to produce an acceptable offer, prompting NIST to reassess its acquisition strategy and seek industry feedback on constructability, cost, and schedule feasibility. The project scope involves the modernization of an 1,800 square meter facility, including the replacement of approximately 1,200 HEPA filters, 70 VAV terminal units, and 54 airflow monitoring devices, as well as the installation of 32 exhaust air control valves and associated ductwork repairs, testing, and recertification. A critical component of the project is the proposed phasing plan, which aims to minimize research disruptions by utilizing 19 construction phases, including 18 critical cleanroom outage phases. Each critical outage is currently envisioned as a nine-day window starting Friday evening and requiring 24/7 operations to achieve ready-for-re-occupancy by the following Monday morning. NIST is specifically requesting rough-order-of-magnitude cost estimates and industry input on whether this aggressive outage schedule is realistic or if it creates prohibitive risks and costs. Responses, including company experience and recommendations for improving competition and project execution, are due by October 14, 2026.
