NOI Permit Rework 009-W

Tidelands Oil Production Co. is authorized by the California Department of Conservation, Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) to perform a casing repair rework on waterflood well 009-W (API #0403720708) located at Pier G in the Wilmington Oil Field. The project is classified under Group B of CalGEM’s December 2023 rework exemptions guidance and is confined to existing wellbores and concrete cellars. Because the work occurs within an entirely developed oil production facility and involves minor alterations to land, it is determined to have negligible environmental impact and no anticipated effects on wildlife or native botanical species. The project is exempt from full environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), citing categorical exemptions including Class 1 for existing facilities, Class 2 for replacement or reconstruction, and Class 4 for minor land alterations. Administrative oversight is managed by the CalGEM Southern District office in Long Beach, California. The primary objective of the work is to restore well integrity to ensure safe and compliant waterflood operations without expanding the operational capacity or surface footprint of the site.
