AI Contract Overview
The City of Nome is soliciting sealed bids for the replacement of existing T1-11 wood siding on the upper walls of the one-story section of Nome Beltz High School with prefinished metal wall panels. The scope of work includes full removal of the old siding, weather barrier, plywood sheathing, and batt insulation, followed by installation of new metal siding, self-healing weather barrier, plywood sheathing, and 5 1/2 inch batt insulation between existing studs, along with new metal flashings, window trim, and joint sealants. The project also requires removal, storage, and reinstallation of window canopies, mechanical hoods, and other attached accessories, as well as replacement and patching of EPDM roofing where necessary to accommodate the siding work. Special attention must be paid to the 2025 EPDM roof, which remains under manufacturer warranty; all work performed on or adjacent to it must strictly follow the manufacturer’s requirements to preserve the warranty. The project is bid as a base bid with two additive alternates, and it is designated as a fast-track, expedited effort, with Substantial Completion required by October 16, 2026, and Final Completion by October 30, 2026. The Owner has procured all metal siding panels, clips, closure strips, fasteners, and prefinished flashings and trim in advance and will furnish them to the selected contractor for installation; the base bid must include all labor and associated costs for receiving, handling, storing, and installing these materials, but not their purchase price. Bidders must be licensed contractors in Alaska and must submit a bid bond or cashier’s check equal to five percent of their bid amount, guaranteed by a surety qualified in Alaska. Compliance with Alaska’s prevailing wage laws and local forest product requirements is mandatory. Bid documents are available starting August 3, 2026, at the City Clerk’s office and other designated locations, with electronic copies provided free of charge and paper copies available for a non-refundable fee. A site visit is encouraged and must be arranged through the Nome Public Schools Facilities Director. The City of Nome reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive minor irregularities.
