Non-Gender Specific Restroom-Attorney General Building

The California Department of General Services is undertaking a renovation project at the 1300 I Street Building in Sacramento to convert an underutilized 87-square-foot kitchen servery area on the first floor into a non-gender specific restroom. This modification aims to improve accessibility and inclusivity for building visitors by repurposing existing space that is no longer needed for food service functions. The scope of work involves demolishing existing walls, counters, and ceiling structures, followed by the construction of a fully functional restroom including plumbing for a toilet and sink, ventilation ductwork with an exhaust fan, restroom accessories, and new electrical systems for lighting and power outlets. In addition to the restroom conversion, the project will install additional electrical outlets to support the placement of more vending machines in the area. The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance facility accessibility and modernize infrastructure in state-operated buildings.
