The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity plans to proceed with a sole source procurement contract with Dell Computers to install Power Edge 18855MC Enclosure and Power Edge 1855MC Pentium 3.6GHz systems along with the necessary supporting hardware and software. Dell is the established and standardized computer provider at the Institute, with trained and certified technicians maintaining their equipment and an existing technical service agreement in place. Conducting a competitive bidding process is expected to cause significant project delays, duplicate costs, and not yield any cost savings, justifying the sole source approach under FAR 6.302-1. Although this is a sole source procurement and not a solicitation for competitive quotes, the agency will consider statements of capability from other responsible businesses if received by 2pm EST on September 30, 2004. Interested offerors must submit their capability statements to the Contract Specialist, Kathy Guertin, via phone or email. This notice is issued on short notice due to expiring end-of-year funds, emphasizing the urgency of the procurement.
