The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed for a 14 Tall Tube and Bar stock storage system with 6 pallets that are 44 x 144 and capable of holding 5,000 lbs each from Big Steel Rack, LLC. This steel storage system is built around a pallet system that allow the entire pallet to be handled with a forklift to ensure safety while removing individual steel stock or tubing. This particular model has the size and capacity requirements required to store the amount of steel stock and tubing that we have in the space available. Its overall dimensions are 4'deep by 12 long by 14 tall. Most other vendors build units that are smaller in all dimensions and/or are cantilever types were the individual steel stock or tubing must be removed by hand at the height of the storage rack, increasing the possibility of a safety incident. Steel Storage systems provides cantilever based systems that only extend the individual storage levels rather than actually being able to remove the level and place on the floor to safely remove steel stock. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within 5 days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to the contract specialist at qlb5@cdc.gov by COB 05/03/2022.
