Intent is to determine if the existing electric and diesel fire pumps in buildings 2 and 18B should be replaced in kind, replaced with other different pumps, replaced in only one location and eliminated in the other, eliminated in both locations and replaced with appropriate pressure reducing valves, or some other solution. Study should consider at a minimum: fire suppression water requirements at the buildings, both the current demand and the anticipated future demand based on bringing building suppression systems up to current standards, the condition and flow capacity of the water mains, the pressures available from the utility providers, and any other relevant factors. Study should consider the three water utility connections in B.1/B.2, B.18B, & B.905 as well as the existing basewide fire pumps in B.2 & B.18B and the DLA owned pump in B.111B. Intent is to have a study which researches the current water system condition, the fire suppression water requirements, and proposes one or more solutions that would become the basis for a separate future design effort.
