AI Contract Overview
This contract seeks sources capable of manufacturing a driveshaft seal identified by NSN 5330-01-256-7478, with approved manufacturers currently being SKF USA INC. and BELL TEXTRON INC, both producing part number 214-040-849-105. The acquisition is classified under AMC code "1," indicating the item is open to competitive acquisition for the second or subsequent time. However, the AMSC code "B" mandates that the part must be procured from specified manufacturing sources due to restricted availability of suitable technical data, government data rights, or manufacturing knowledge that precludes acquisition from other suppliers or use of second-source parts. Interested parties are invited to submit information about their ability to manufacture the item by the response deadline of May 26, 2026, to the contract specialist, George Sawyer. Potential new sources must provide a comprehensive application package through the DLA Land and Maritime Alternate Offer/Source Approval Request (SAR) Program, demonstrating the capability to produce the product at or above the quality level of the original equipment manufacturers. The solicitation reference and additional program details are accessible via the DLA Land and Maritime website, aiming to ensure qualified competition and secure reliable supply sources for this critical military component.

Should a company wish to be reviewed and qualified as an “Approved Source”, they may submit an application package through the DLA Land and Maritime Alternate Offer/Source Approval Request (SAR) Program. A SAR package contains all technical data needed to demonstrate that the prospective contractor can competently manufacture the product to the same level of quality or better than the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The onus is on the contractor to document and demonstrate their product is equal to, or better, than the currently approved item which DLA Land and Maritime is procuring.
For further information, please reference the DLA Land Maritime web page shown below and click on the highlight: Alternate Offer/Source Approval Program for detailed explanation for the information and format necessary for a SAR and for the SAR approval process.
