SHAR # 4578, 4579 and 4581 WHO: JXRV WHAT: Tomcat Security Fencing Maintenance (FSC) WHEN: Requested COMP date of 3 July 2023 WHERE: 2390 Tomcat Area WHY: Deficiencies were found by the NSWC Crane Security team walk through HOW: Make repairs to satisfy security requirements Requirements: • Tension on strand barbwire behind magazine 2382 need tightening. I believe this could just all be replaced as it is very rusty and will eventually break in other spots • Barbwires need fixed or replaced #2 wire behind 2385, #3 wire between 2387 & 2388. #1 wire by 2380 • fence keepers need to be installed behind magazine 2385, 2386 • 3 out riggers are damaged in front of 2386 • replace upright pole in front of 2388 left side • fence post right side of 2383 is bent, needs to be straightened or replaced. Can’t be more than plus or minus 2 degrees in each direction UFC 4-022-03 para 2-2.1.3 • fix hole in fence in front of 2382 • Tension wire on top and bottom needs to be addressed, UFC 4-022-03 para 2-2.1.4 says Fencing fabric can be securely fastened to tension wires on the top and bottom with 9 gage (3.76 mm) galvanized tie wires incorporating at least three full twists, 9 gage (3.76 mm) round wire galvanized hog rings, or in a manner that provides a tensile strength equal to or greater than the strength of the fencing fabric. • Some culverts don’t have the required rebar inside to prevent people climbing through to accesss secured area. • Shrubs need to be cut down at least 20 feet from the outside of the fencing area IAW OPNAVINST 5530.14C para 0606.c all around the perimeter and debris needs to be removed from the fencing that has grown up into the fence • Replace or reset gate #3 & #4 too much space in between the two gates when closed • Gate 1 need a pole installed to lessen the gap between when the gate ...
