The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama requests open market quotes to complete a first floor modernization design that includes the primary atrium, an office space, and a kitchenette/eating area. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama is seeking open market quotes for a first-floor modernization design encompassing three main areas: the primary atrium, an administrative office, and a jury assembly room kitchenette. The atrium project, covering approximately 1,600 square feet, involves modifying the existing space that connects the main entrances and public areas to the elevator waiting area. Key upgrades include electrical and lighting improvements, relocation and redesign of a central seal and bust, updated signage and finishes, enhanced visitor experience, and wall treatments suitable for art display. The administrative office renovation, approximately 1,500 square feet, requires upgrades to electrical, lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The space will be reconfigured to include two supervisory offices, three standard offices, a semi-private cubicle workstation for four people, a small breakroom, and a walk-in vault. The jury assembly room kitchenette expansion, around 500 square feet, will incorporate an adjacent office space and feature upgraded electrical and HVAC systems, improved food storage and preparation surfaces, and finishes consistent with the existing room design. All upgrades must match current surface finishes with approved improvements and comply with the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard (ABAAS). The design submission must include a phased construction plan that allows separate, independent construction projects and cost estimates for each space. Site visits are available to all bidders, and while only an initial project area drawing is included due to courthouse security, more detailed schematics can be requested. The solicitation was posted on June 8, 2026, with responses due by July 2, 2026. The project is managed through the Alabama Northern District Court in Birmingham, with designated points of contact available for inquiries.
