The Naval Medical Research Center has awarded a contract to Rees Scientific, the original equipment manufacturer, for the maintenance and calibration of its temperature monitoring system. This system is critical to the command's mission, providing constant automated monitoring of freezers, refrigerators, and key room temperatures, while alerting staff to any out-of-range detections. Because the equipment is under warranty and Rees Scientific owns the proprietary software and hardware for the Centron monitoring systems, they are the only authorized source capable of performing the necessary annual testing, calibration, and software upgrades. This acquisition was conducted as a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 811210 and was awarded without full and open competition based on the statutory exception for a single responsible source. The contract structure consists of a base year with four additional option years. Performance will take place in Maryland, ensuring the continued operational integrity and compliance of the facility's temperature-sensitive storage and environments.
