The County of Riverside Purchasing Department, representing Riverside County Fire, is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide on-call weed abatement services across unincorporated areas of Riverside County. The contract aims to address parcels that pose fire hazards and require vegetation management to comply with fire codes, abatement ordinances, and public safety regulations. The County plans to award multiple contracts and establish an on-call contractor list ranked by pricing within designated Hazard Reduction Zones. Work assignments will be offered to contractors based on their ranking within each zone, with subsequent offers made to lower-ranked contractors if higher-ranked ones decline or fail to meet performance requirements. Contracts resulting from this solicitation will have a one-year term with up to four optional one-year renewals, though there is no guarantee of a minimum amount of work. All services must be performed professionally and in accordance with industry standards, as well as all relevant federal, state, and local laws. The solicitation process includes a response deadline of June 11, 2026, and the County has designated a primary point of contact for questions. This arrangement allows Riverside County to maintain flexibility and readiness in managing fire risks through timely and effective weed abatement services.

All work shall be performed in a professional and workman like manner consistent with industry standards and in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations and ordinances. Any contract(s) resulting from this RFQ will be effective for a period of one (1) year, with the option to renew up to four (4) additional one-year periods from the date of award, with no guarantee by the County of Riverside to purchase any specified amount of service. 2.2 The purpose of this solicitation is to select qualified contractors to provide on-call weed abatement services to parcels posing a fire danger and requiring hazard reduction pursuant to applicable fire code, abatement ordinances and public safety regulations within the unincorporated areas of Riverside County (see Appendix “D” Exhibit 1 – Hazard Reduction Zone Maps for details). 2.3 The County intends to establish an on-call list of contractors by Hazard Reduction Zone and rank bidders in order of lowest responsive and responsible evaluated pricing for each zone.
