OPEN4UAS: Understanding, Adopting, and Sustaining Open Science in Universities of Applied Sciences

The OPEN4UAS project, managed by the Regieorgaan Open Science under the Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek, focuses on understanding and accelerating the adoption of Open Science within Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences. The initiative aims to identify the specific motivations, incentives, and barriers that influence the shift toward Open Science at both institutional and individual levels. By utilizing multiple data sources, the project seeks to build a theoretical framework that accounts for the unique practice-based research context of these institutions, which differs from traditional university settings. The primary goal is to produce transferable knowledge across various disciplines and institutions to ensure that Open Science practices are sustainable and well-integrated. By shifting the academic focus away from university-dominated perspectives, the study intends to enrich the broader discourse on open research. This award notice, identified by solicitation number 110.110.046, outlines a strategic effort to strengthen the research infrastructure and transparency of the Dutch professional education landscape.
