The Department of Defense's 56th Contracting Squadron at Luke Air Force Base plans to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order to Gentex Corporation for oxygen mask lights. This procurement will proceed without full and open competition under the authority of Subpart 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii), as Gentex is the only responsible source able to meet the agency's requirements. The key factor for this sole source designation is that Gentex's oxygen mask light is uniquely approved by the Air Force Human Systems Command Safe to Fly program for night vision goggle compatibility, making it the only product authorized for use in this capacity. The solicitation, identified as F2U1320182A001-01, was posted on August 11, 2010, under NAICS code 336413, related to aerospace product manufacturing. Although this notice signals the intent to award the contract to Gentex Corporation, it is not a request for competitive proposals. Questions or communications regarding the procurement are to be directed to Carolyn English, the designated Contracting Officer, via email or facsimile. The purchasing activity is managed by the 56th Contracting Squadron at Luke AFB, Arizona, reflecting the specialized nature of the acquisition and adherence to regulatory provisions for sole source contracting.
