SPAWARSYSCEN Charleston plans to negotiate a sole source contract with SecuriMetrics Incorporated to procure a total of 492 iris scanning devices, comprised of 146 units of the Pier 2.3 B1-001 and 346 units of the Pier-T SMI001, in support of the Biometrics Automated Toolset (BAT) system. These devices are uniquely compatible with the BAT software, as they are the only commercially available iris scanners capable of generating the required 512-byte Iris Code needed for the biometric mission. The contract is intended to be a Firm Fixed Price agreement under FAR Part 13.5 Test Procedures, with materials delivery expected on or before April 30, 2007. SecuriMetrics holds proprietary rights as the manufacturer of these devices. The necessity for a sole source contract is based on the fact that no other commercially available scanners can interface with the BAT software or meet operational requirements without additional engineering or expense. This solicitation is not open for competitive proposals, and any inquiries must be submitted by March 30, 2007, at 3:00 pm.
