Pipeline Replacement– Harbor Development Permit No. 25-066

This project involves two primary initiatives managed by the Port of Long Beach in California. The first effort, under Harbor Development Permit No. 25-066, focuses on the replacement of an existing natural gas pipeline and the creation of bell holes for pipeline abandonment. This work requires trenching on Harbor Avenue within the area bounded by W Anaheim St, N Harbor Ave, W 11th St, and N Fashion Ave in Harbor Planning District 1. The project is classified as a Categorical Exemption under CEQA Section 15302, as the new infrastructure will maintain substantially the same purpose and capacity as the original. All removed equipment must be disposed of in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Additionally, the first amendment to Harbor Development Permit No. 25-053 covers general site improvements at 2980 Nimitz Road. This scope of work includes the installation of two AC units on the roof, along with the necessary roof framing, ductwork, electrical work, and condensate systems to provide cooling for the warehouse. This specific improvement is exempt from CEQA under Section 15301 for existing facilities, as it consists of minor alterations with negligible expansion. The projects are coordinated through the Port of Long Beach Environmental Planning Division and involve collaboration with Long Beach Utilities.
