The City of South Gate is overseeing the development of a new 1,700 square foot fast-food restaurant located at 4816 and 4820 Firestone Boulevard and 8915 Vossler Avenue. The project involves the demolition of an existing vacant commercial building and the construction of a facility featuring a drive-through lane, a walk-up window, a 220 square foot covered patio, and 14 parking spaces. The development is planned for a site greater than 15,000 square feet across three assessor parcel numbers, with a projected construction timeline of approximately nine months covering demolition, building construction, and finishing. To facilitate this development, several entitlements and approvals are required, including a Site Plan and Design Review, a Conditional Use Permit for the drive-through, and a General Plan Amendment to change the land use designation from Medium Density Residential to Commercial. Additionally, a Zone Change is required to transition the property at 8915 Vossler Avenue from Neighborhood Low to Urban Neighborhood and remove the Corridor Transition Overlay. The project has been granted a Class 3 categorical exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act, as it is determined that the construction will not have a significant environmental impact.
