Robins Air Force Base in Georgia is seeking to procure one lot each of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC), part number G554931-3, and Linear Application Specific Integrated Circuits (LASIC), part number G555838-1. These components are intended to support an upcoming U.S. Air Force acquisition for the production of the AN/ALE-50 Towed Decoy system, an anti-missile countermeasures system used by the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. The ALE-50 system includes a launcher, launch controller, and expendable towed decoy that protect aircraft by luring RF-guided missiles away from the host aircraft. Delivery is expected approximately six months after receipt of order, with these materials to be shipped directly for use in the AN/ALE-50 production run. This procurement will be conducted as a sole-source acquisition under federal regulations allowing purchase from only one responsible source, as Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) holding proprietary rights to engineering, testing, and system documentation. Raytheon also possesses the necessary support and test equipment needed to verify system requirements. While interested parties may express interest or submit proposals, the government retains discretion over whether to open the procurement for competition. Foreign participation is prohibited at the prime contractor level. The solicitation is anticipated to be released around mid-March 2012 with a 30-day response period, but it will not be posted publicly; requests for the solicitation must be made via email to the identified contracting specialist.
