Terminal A, originally built in 1984, will see extensive updates including the overhaul of baggage claim and check-in areas, expanded and redesigned hold rooms and restrooms, security screening enhancements, architectural rebuilds, and new mechanical and building systems. Terminal B, completed in 2010, will receive targeted upgrades such as improved ADA accessibility, new and reconfigured operational spaces, modernized restrooms, replacement of furnishings, and façade repairs to bring it in line with Terminal A and the forthcoming Terminal C design language. The architect’s role encompasses project programming, coordination with stakeholders, integration of updated design standards, and technical support across all phases. The contract, valued at up to $35 million, will begin in December 2025 and proceed in multiple phases as funding becomes available. Work will occur at the San Antonio International Airport and require firms with proven aviation design expertise, capacity to secure TSA clearances, and compliance with FAA guidelines. A Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation goal of 13% is established for this project, reinforcing the city’s commitment to inclusive contracting practices.
