Pumice Valley Landfill Air Curtain Burner

The project involves the installation and operation of an air curtain burner at the Pumice Valley Landfill in Mono County, California, specifically on a vegetated-free portion of the landfill property. The burner will be used to combust organic green wood material and clean wood waste collected from community fire-safe cleanup events and residential property clearance efforts aimed at reducing wildfire risk. All materials will be transported to the landfill site for processing. The burner’s location is situated more than one mile from the nearest receptor and nearly eight miles from the closest community or school, minimizing potential exposure to emissions. A valid permit to construct and operate has been secured from the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District, which has determined that the activity falls below the threshold for air quality significance and does not constitute a major source of air pollution or violate any Clean Air Act standards.
