AI Contract Overview
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is establishing a sole source agreement with Joe Johnson Equipment for the procurement of the Envirosight QuickView Air HD Zoom Pole Camera System and related accessories. This purchase aims to replace aging equipment that has surpassed its operational lifespan and is no longer cost-effective to repair, thereby enhancing the bureau's sewer inspection capabilities. The acquisition supports compliance with the US Environmental Protection Agency's Administrative Compliance Order issued in 2016, which mandated the development of a Sewer Backup Prevention & Response Plan and a targeted sewer inspection program focusing on specific problematic areas within Queens and Brooklyn. The contract, valued between $50,000 and $150,000, is part of a broader effort to meet EPA requirements and improve sewer infrastructure monitoring. The procurement process is based on a sole source justification, with documentation indicating that Joe Johnson Equipment is the exclusive authorized reseller and service provider for Envirosight products in New York City and surrounding regions. The contract details, including specifications, terms, and conditions, are documented in a formal requirements contract, emphasizing the exclusivity and necessity of this procurement method. Interested firms that believe they can provide similar services in the future are invited to submit their interest by November 19, 2025. The overall initiative aligns with the city’s efforts to modernize sewer inspection tools and ensure regulatory compliance, ultimately supporting the city's infrastructure maintenance and environmental protection objectives.
