Purchase of Fire Suppression Flares and Launchers

The U.S. Forest Service, Northern California Service Center procured on a sole-soure basis, Hotshot flares and launchers from Firequick Products, P.O. Box 910, InyoKern, CA 93527. This was an emergency procurement for the North Zone Interagency Fire Cache in support of firefighting efforts in Northern California. Firequick Products is the manufacturer and distributor of these products. The total dollar amount of this award was $89,685.14. Authority for this single source procurement is FAR 13.106(b) for purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contact was made with several vendor's that provide fire suppression equipment. Those companies contacted, state that FireQuick Products, Inc. is the sole source for these items. This notice is not a request for competitive quotations. No solicitation document is available and telephone calls will not be accepted. Any firm that believes it can provide the equipment listed may submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining if there are other sources that could provide these supplies in future procurements.
