AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of a single set of twin Yamaha F150 outboard motors to replace the existing mechanical Yamaha twin 150hp engines on a 2004 Boston Whaler 21-foot boat operated by Delaware State Park. The replacement engines are specified to be counter-rotating with appropriately pitched stainless steel props, chosen due to Yamaha's proven reliability in the contractor's commercial applications. The use of Yamaha engines is preferred for consistency across the fleet, ease of diagnostics, and the widespread availability of repair services from marine dealers in the region. Although the Yamaha F150 model has been used under a previous contract for Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) operations, it is currently not available as a contract option, prompting the need for this procurement. The contract is estimated to be valued between $30,000 and $40,000 and is managed through Ohio’s OhioBuys procurement platform, which facilitates solicitation, contract management, and supplier registration processes. The procurement aims to ensure operational reliability and maintain fleet uniformity, leveraging Yamaha’s reputation for durability and dealer support.

LE at Delaware State park needs One Set of Twin Yamaha 150 Motors. These engines will be replacements for a 2004 Boston Whaler 21’ foot boat that is currently equipped with mechanical Yamaha twin 150hp outboard engines. We are requesting the replacement to be Yamah F150 outboard engines that are counter rotating with appropriate pitched stainless props. We utilize Yamaha outboard motors because in the commercial applications that we use them, they have proven to be more reliable than competing brands. This engine has been on a contract for ODNR use however the model has changed and the F150 motor is not currently available as a contract option. The majority of our fleet has Yamaha outboard engines which helps with consistency in operation as well as diagnosing repairs. We have also found that most marine dealers in the locations of these boats are able to repair Yamaha engines.
