This contract amendment pertains to a solicitation for providing Junior Biomedical Engineer services at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, specifically to support technical and administrative needs at the West Haven and Newington campuses. The amendment updates the solicitation due date to July 22, 2009, at 2:00 pm local time, and replaces page 7 of the original document with a revised version. All other terms and conditions of the solicitation remain unchanged. The core requirement involves supplying two or more Junior Biomedical Engineers working 20-40 hours per week over six months, with at least one engineer possessing supervisory experience to manage the team. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science Engineering, preferably with some master’s level coursework, and at least six months of hospital experience. The engineers are expected to operate with minimal supervision, performing independently within the clinical engineering department, and must have networking skills needed to maintain and support complex medical systems such as PACS and related biomedical devices. Familiarity with the VA’s AMES/MER equipment database is also desirable. Pricing is to be based on hourly rates for regular and overtime services for both standard and supervisory Junior Biomedical Engineers, with contract award determined by lowest total cost across the base and option years. Vendors must submit pricing only if they have qualified candidates available, with further credential information to be requested after selection. The contract aims to fill an urgent staffing gap at the VA Connecticut Medical Center.
