The Department of Defense’s Mission Installation Contracting Command at Fort Bliss intends to extend the existing contract with Enchantment Aviation for aeromedical evacuation services under the authority of FAR 52.217-8. The crew configuration includes a pilot, paramedic, and flight nurse to ensure full medical support during transport. The extension is for a short period of one month, starting January 1, 2012, allowing continuity of critical services while a competitive procurement process is being prepared. Although this notice invites capable sources to submit statements or proposals, it is not a solicitation for competitive bids and no contract will be awarded purely from responses to this notice. The ultimate decision whether to pursue full and open competition rests with the Government. Interested parties needed to submit detailed responses by December 14, 2011. The incumbent contractor, Enchantment Aviation, located in Las Cruces, NM, will remain the service provider during this extension period due to the essential nature of the medical evacuation services.
