The Department of Defense has officially cancelled the public-private competition for the provision of Active Duty Dental Health Care and Ancillary Services previously performed at the Military Medical Support Office located at Great Lakes Naval Base, Illinois. This cancellation follows a comprehensive analysis of government needs which concluded that processing claims submitted by active duty military personnel will no longer be necessary. Consequently, there will be no transfer or conversion of work currently performed by government employees in this area. Instead, the Department plans to implement a network of preferred providers to deliver Active Duty Dental Program services. Details regarding this new approach and the associated requirements will be announced in a forthcoming notice on the FedBizOpps platform. This decision is in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the Office of Management and Budget Circular A-76 (Revised), which governs the performance of commercial activities by government agencies. The contract, originally referenced under solicitation number 06-0113 and administered by the Defense Health Agency, reflects the agency's shift from direct claims processing to utilizing a preferred provider network to meet dental care needs for active duty service members. Points of contact for this matter include Thomas M. Griffin, the Contracting Officer, and Jacqueline F. Scripture, the Contract Specialist, both of whom are stationed at the agency’s office in Aurora, Colorado.
