Full Description

INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE NOTICE On behalf of the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital (EHVH), 5000 South 5th Avenue, Hines, IL 60614, the VA Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) intends to solicit and award a sole source contract to Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network for Organ Allocation and Laboratory Services. The purpose of this Special Notice is to post the Government s intent to sole source to GOH. This acquisition is conducted under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. As this is a sole source procurement with the only OPO that can provide organs 24/7 a needed for transplants to EHVH. GOH will work with the Transplant Center to evaluate potential donors, organ recovery, organ placement, including donation after cardiac death. GOH will utilize the donor network database to locating and allocating donated organs to the Transplant Center. GOH will conduct lab testing that will include the donor s blood type and will compare the blood type to that of the recipient. GOH is responsible for the packaging, labeling, handling, and shipping of organs in a manner that ensures timely arrival to the Transplant Center.
