The Department of Commerce's National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) to secure fish rearing services at several state hatcheries in Washington, specifically Minter Creek, Issaquah, Kendall Creek, Soos Creek, and Sol Duc. This contract supports NMFS's experimental research on fish raised within these facilities. The negotiation is justified by the unique capability of WDFW to provide these essential services directly at the state hatcheries, with no other vendors available to fulfill the requirements. This acquisition is a simplified process with an estimated contract value under $50,000, reflecting the relatively small scale and focused nature of the work. The solicitation, identified as WASC4-248, was posted on December 9, 2003, and is managed through the Department of Commerce office based in Seattle, Washington. The contract aims to facilitate the ongoing scientific experiments crucial to NMFS’s fisheries management and conservation efforts.
