The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to award a sole source purchase order to the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association (STIPDA), a national non-profit organization that represents public health injury professionals across all U.S. states and territories. The contract involves the development and dissemination of various materials to support injury and violence prevention efforts, including national fact sheets, state-level templates, and publicity tools. STIPDA’s unique expertise and established relationships with state health departments make it the sole organization capable of delivering these materials within the required timeline and budget. The contract includes four main deliverables with set deadlines: producing four national fact sheets addressing child maltreatment, elderly falls, residential fire injury, and the value of prevention programs by mid-September 2007; creating four customizable state templates by the end of December 2007; developing a suite of publicity and training materials by February 2008; and disseminating these resources to members and partners by April 2008. The procurement follows FAR regulations for sole source awards, and while no competitive solicitation is issued, other firms may submit letters of interest within 15 days to prompt potential competition. The project aims to enhance public health communications and strengthen state programs focused on reducing injury-related morbidity and mortality.
