NATURE OF REQUIREMENTSThe Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is seeking bids from qualified suppliers to supply professional services in order to undertake a research project to further analyze the large truck accident data from a previous probabilistic risk assessment and from the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO). This assessment will investigate what effect accidents involving alcohol and drugs, disobeying traffic controls and maintenance issues, as defined by Transport Canada in their database, have on the probabilities of a severe accident. While Canadian regulations for the transportation of radioactive material are adequate to ensure protection of the environment and the health and safety of people, this research project will improve our understanding of the safety of the transport of radioactive material. It will provide a useful tool for communicating the regulatory requirements and relative safety risks related to the transport of radioactive material to the public. The complete description of the work to be completed under this requirement is in the Statement of Work provided in Annex "A" of the Request for Proposals (RFP).It is intended to result in the award of one (1) contract for a period of one (1) year commencing on the date of contract award.Interested bidders are required to submit their proposals in accordance with the instructions provided in this RFP.In case of a discrepancy in the terms used in the English and French version of this solicitation, the English version will take precedence.CHANGES TO THE RFPInterested suppliers are strongly advised to click on the “Follow this Notice” link and subscribe to one of the notification methods provided and explained above in order to keep track of all updates to this solicitation and ensure their bids meet with all updated requirements, if any.Canada retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement.Bids may be submitted in either official language of Canada
