The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), one of only two federally operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade educational programs for the Department of Defense (DoD). Globally positioned, DoDEA operates 160 accredited schools in 9 districts located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico, employing approximately 11,828 staff members to serve over 69,000 children of active-duty military and DoD civilian families.
Ramey Unit School, part of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), is located on 20 acres in northwest Puerto Rico near Aguadilla. It serves approximately 500 students from Pre‑K through 12th grade, primarily children of active‑duty military members and federal civilians stationed at USCG Air Station Borinquen and other nearby federal agencies.
