--Reagent Kits

The Government intends to increase the quantity of reagent kits under an existing contract with Edge Biosystems Inc., located in Gaithersburg, MD, using sole source authority as authorized by FAR 6.302-1. Edge Biosystems is the original manufacturer of these reagent products and the only supplier capable of providing reagents compatible with the Government’s validated sequencing procedures and existing data. This action does not constitute a formal solicitation, nor is it a request for quotations or proposals. No solicitation document is issued, and inquiries by telephone will not be entertained. Modifications will proceed without competitive offers unless there is compelling written evidence that competition would benefit the Government. Respondents wishing to present capabilities must submit detailed information by 4:00 p.m. EST on March 13, 2008, via email to the designated Government contact. The Government retains full discretion regarding whether to pursue competitive procurement based on responses to this notice. If no affirmative written response is received, the contract modification will be awarded directly to Edge Biosystems without further notification. The procurement involves NAICS code 325413, which pertains to the manufacture of biological products, consistent with the nature of the reagent kits.
