This contract pertains to a comprehensive condition survey of the San Pedro Breakwater, a century-old wave protection structure in Long Beach Harbor, California, which is currently considered obsolete and may be underperforming. The breakwater has settled significantly below its original design elevation, compromising its protective capacity. The awarded Architect-Engineer firm, Halcrow, Inc., is tasked with preparing a detailed report that includes reviewing historical surveys and design documents, performing extensive physical field surveys using advanced technologies such as hydrographic multi-beam and side scan sonar mapping, laser scanning, and ortho-photo mapping. The updated data and oceanographic conditions will be analyzed to assess the current functionality and engineering effectiveness of the structure. The contract requires the preparation of a Comprehensive Condition Survey Report that will document all findings, including a risk and reliability analysis to forecast the breakwater’s future performance. This opportunity is open exclusively to contractors already holding contract number W912PL-09-D-0002-0003, with the solicitation issued by the Department of Defense, specifically from the W075 Endist Los Angeles office. The project falls under NAICS code 541330 and aims to update and improve the engineering evaluation necessary for maintaining the harbor’s wave protection infrastructure. The designated point of contact for this contract is Cynthia H. McManus.
