The government plans to award a $625,000, 12-month Phase II SBIR contract to Optomec, Inc., located in Albuquerque, NM, for the development of advanced manufacturing techniques focusing on large-area solid oxide fuel cells and other energy applications. This initiative will be funded under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 as a one-time effort, originating from a competition held under the DoD 2006.1 SBIR solicitation in the Power and Aeropropulsion topic area. The primary goal is to scale up and improve the capabilities of a deposition system that enables rapid production of large-area solid oxide fuel cells, contributing to enhanced manufacturing processes for energy technologies. This contract opportunity is exclusive to Optomec, Inc., and no formal solicitation or responses are expected following this notification. The work will be overseen by the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, with Ryan Miller serving as the technical point of contact and Mary Lykins as the contract officer. The effort is aligned with Department of Defense interests in advancing energy-related manufacturing capabilities through innovative technology development.
