This contract involves the selection of an Architect-Engineer design firm to develop detailed construction documents for a roadway resurfacing project within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The project focuses on resurfacing 7.2 miles of Clingmans Dome Road, including the Clingmans Dome parking area, two additional paved parking areas, and selected gravel pullouts. In addition, the project encompasses resurfacing 3.5 miles of Cherokee Orchard Road and 5.6 miles of Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, along with associated parking areas and pullouts. These construction documents will be assembled into a comprehensive package to serve as the foundation for a Request for Proposal aimed at securing a construction contract for the resurfacing work. This opportunity is limited to contractors who were previously awarded contracts under Solicitation No. N200070600, specifically HDR Inc. and OTAK, Inc. The solicitation, managed by the Department of the Interior’s Dsc Contracting Services Division based in Denver, Colorado, is currently in the presolicitation phase. The detailed planning and engineering services provided under this contract will set the stage for the subsequent construction phase, ensuring that the resurfacing efforts are well-documented and coordinated for effective implementation within the national park.
