Redwood Road MPM 5.41 Slide Repair Project RDS26-22

The Redwood Road MPM 5.41 Slide Repair Project (RDS26-22) is a forecast infrastructure project managed by the Napa County Department of Public Works to address roadway damage caused by winter storms in 2024-2025. The scope of work involves repairing approximately 33 feet of undermined roadway edge through the installation of a Rock Slope Protection (RSP) buttress, designed with a 1:1 slope, ten feet in height, and an average thickness of five feet. Following the buttress installation, the project includes filling and repaving approximately 100 feet of the damaged road surface and lining the existing roadway ditch with asphalt to mitigate future erosion. The project is designed to maintain the existing road alignment and historic significance, with no tree removal and the use of native grass hydro seeding for site restoration. The project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and must comply with current Road and Street Standards. Strict environmental and biological protections are mandated, including the presence of an on-site biological monitor during all construction activities and mandatory environmental awareness training for all personnel. Required pre-construction surveys include checks for special-status species, Napa false indigo during its blooming season, bats in trees, and nesting birds between February 1 and August 31. Operational requirements include strict vehicle access limits, wildlife checks under stationary equipment, and specific safety protocols for excavations deeper than one foot.
