The National Capital Commission (NCC) has a requirement for EPDM* cooling mats and all associated components required to provide a refrigerated ice surface within existing rink boards measuring approximately 67’ wide x 170’ long.
The requirement consists of the supply, installation, removal and storage preparation of the system, including training in-house staff on installation/removal processes (fall and spring) and two site visits during the first skating season.
Based on our experience with alternative products and a review of available options, the NCC is proceeding with an EPDM cooling mat solution that meets the performance, durability, and seasonal roll-up needs for the refrigerated ice rink.
* EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is a type of synthetic rubber.
