AI Contract Overview
This contract involves the procurement of two self-contained refrigerator-freezer units specifically designed to safely transport temperature-sensitive materials such as vaccines, medications, reagents, and blood products. The units are portable and self-powered, capable of operating on various power sources including 100 to 250 VAC AC input and 12-28 VDC from batteries or other DC sources. They feature both cooling and freezing modes, with temperature set points at 4°C for cooling and -22°C for freezing. Each unit offers a compartment volume of 56 liters and can accommodate a payload of either 40 units of 450 mL or 60 units of 250 mL blood units. The cooling capacity is rated at 60 watts and heating capacity at 40 watts, with a gross maximum weight of 180 pounds including payload and a tare case weight of 142 pounds. The units also include features such as internal fans for uniform temperature maintenance, a multifunction LCD display, and an RS-232 serial port. The contract stipulates firm fixed pricing with delivery required within 30 days after order. Compliance with various technical, quality, and packaging standards is mandated, including adherence to MIL-STD-130 for item unique identification, MIL-STD-2073-1E for packaging, and medical marking standard No. 1. The refrigerated units are to be packaged securely for transport and marked appropriately for medical use. Regulatory compliance involves FDA oversight and classification under Regulation 864.9700 Class II, requiring registration, listing, labeling, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, though a 510(k) is not required. The procurement includes standard FAR commercial clauses to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and the contracting officer requires bidders to specify the source, part number, and manufacturer details. The place of performance and delivery is San Diego, California, with primary contact designated for further inquiries.
