The contract involves the renovation of the OAG lab, an outdated facility located at the north end of the test berth aisle on OP-1, adjacent to the site where the SERF is being constructed. The renovation aims to increase usable laboratory space to support SP23/SP24 repair work by upgrading key infrastructure elements such as HVAC, lighting, and power distribution. The project includes the installation of raised deck flooring throughout the lab, aligning it with the new SERF’s design, and routing new power beneath the raised flooring to supply equipment locations efficiently. Negotiations will be carried out with General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) in Pittsfield, MA, who are uniquely qualified for this contract as the sole manufacturer of the TRIDENT (II) D5 Strategic Weapon System Fire Control and Attack Weapons Control Systems. Their exclusive expertise and established capabilities make them the only suitable source to perform the required work. The solicitation, titled "RENOVATE LASER LAB," was posted in March 2009 under solicitation number N00030-09-G-0013NJ07, with Jean A Ketchum serving as the contract administrator.
