Repair and/or Calibration of the following equipment: Probe/DTT1 Transmitter Assembly, for DTS1, ASN: S100-2MT4-3A1A1

The U.S. Department of Commerce, through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service, is issuing a purchase order for the repair and calibration of 26 Probe/DTT1 Transmitter Assemblies used with the DTS1 system, identified by ASN: S100-2MT4-3A1A1. This contract is being awarded as a sole source to Vaisala, Inc., the original equipment manufacturer, due to the specialized nature of the equipment and the absence of alternative providers able to perform the required services. The contract, posted in December 2016, is managed by the Department of Commerce’s office in Kansas City, Missouri, with William N. Roberts serving as the point of contact. The focus is on ensuring precise and reliable calibration and repair to maintain operational integrity of critical weather monitoring equipment. The sole source justification is based on the exclusivity of Vaisala’s expertise and proprietary technology for these specialized transmitter assemblies, which prevents competition and necessitates direct procurement.
